Alabama Defeats Tennessee 11-3 in SEC Opener

Crimson Tide Start Conference Play with Convincing Victory

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 14 Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team opened its SEC schedule with a convincing 11-3 victory over Tennessee on Friday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the win, Alabama improves to 14-3 overall and 1-0 in SEC play, while Tennessee falls to 11-3 overall and 0-1 in conference.

Greg Farone earned the win on the mound for Alabama, tossing 5.1 innings of one-run ball. The junior right-hander allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out seven batters. Senior right-hander Tanner Burns pitched the final 3.2 innings to earn his second save of the season.

Alabama's offense was led by senior left fielder Tyler Gentry, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles and three RBIs. Junior shortstop Zane Denton also had a big night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Senior catcher Sam Praytor added a two-run single in the fifth inning to give Alabama a 6-1 lead.
